Internationally-acclaimed British Shakespeare director BENJAMIN BLYTH takes the helm with some of Alberta’s finest theatrical talent in Malachite Theatre’s “rollicking” (Liz Nicholls) new production of Shakespeare’s beautifully-crafted seasonal comedy: Twelfth Night.

Set in the deep snows of the Canadian winter, the shipwrecked Viola (Merran Carr-Wiggin) has been saved from the sea. Believing her twin brother Sebastian (Andrew Cormier) to be drowned, she makes her way in this brave new world disguised as a boy in the service of the melancholy Duke, Orsino (Byron Martin).

Meanwhile at the court of Countess Olivia (Danielle LaRose), Christmas is over but no one is going home! With the seasonal liquor cabinet running dangerously low, Sir Toby Belch (William Mitchell) resolves to make this year’s holiday the family reunion of a lifetime!

Filled with mirth, madness and melancholy, Twelfth Night follows the hilarious and heart-warming story of two twins, separated by the sea and ultimately reunited by love.

Featuring an outstanding cast of home-grown talent, Twelfth Night is the bittersweet love song to the Canadian winter that promises to be a theatrical highlight of the season.
